Sarah lives in rural west Somerset and works from her garden studio, set up with printing equipment she has collected over the past 15 years. Her most recent addition is a small 150 year old Albion printing press, initially from Edinburgh and used to create whiskey labels. She is currently working predominantly with lino blocks, silk screen and small mixed media images on paper and canvas.
Sarah studied BA Fine Art Print Making at Howard gardens in Cardiff 2002-2005.
Living between Exmoor and the Quantocks Sarah takes her inspiration from the landscape and wildlife of this area. She is also interested in folk art and fairy tales, botanical prints and textile surface design. She likes creating a story within her work often using layers of ink, over painting, hiding text, collage and stitching to give her work a sense of meaning in its development. She enjoys the fast immediate and flowing nature of ink sketching and often uses this as a starting point for linocuts or larger canvas paintings. Sarah is also known for designing the sculpture, which marks the start of the South West Coast Path running from Minehead to Poole.
