I grew up in Northern Ireland and now live in Cornwall. I studied at Famouth College of Arts and more recently took a studio development course at Newlyn School of Art. I have worked as a teacher and Education Officer in national galleries: Newlyn Art Gallery and the South London Gallery; I was part of the education team in back stage crafts at the Royal Opera House.
I enjoy painting plein air, in the Newlyn tradition, but I also paint from sketches, emotion and memory back in my studio (especially in winter! ). I am drawn to how the light plays on objects and on the landscape. Particularly in still life, I seek to communicate my feelings through colour.
