I'm Jennifer, a North Hertfordshire based artist, with a passion for loose watercolour painting.
I studied Art at Westminster College, Oxford, then went on to teach in Primary Schools for many years. After retiring from teaching, I rekindled my love for painting. I had always been drawn to the soft and atmospheric feel of loose watercolour images, and so began an exciting journey of experimentation and practice, which led me to paint more freely, using relaxed and fluid strokes and a wet-into-wet technique.
I have been hugely inspired by the work and teaching of artists such as Andrew Geeson, whose workshops and humour have enabled me to ‘loosen up’ in my painting and have fun.
My subjects include florals, animals, landscapes and buildings – all painted at the kitchen table!
I am a member of Herts Visual Arts and the Hitchin Art Hub, both of which are organisations that support and promote local artists. I have exhibited my work at their events several times over the past two years, as well as having exhibited independently. My husband, Steve, makes the frames for all of my displayed work – so PaintPotOriginals is very much a team effort!
