I'm based between Leeds and Selby and have been an artist since my two lovely children flew the nest.
I'd always felt the urge to express myself as an artist but apart from gaining a GCE in art at school other priorities such as earning a living and bringing up my family conspired to thwart my ambitions in that direction.
However I finally took the plunge by joining a local artist workshop day, found I didn't do too bad and went on to study as a mature part-timer at Harrogate College where I learned the basics.
That was a while ago now and I haven't looked back since, having been a successful member of Walton Group of Artists, SAA, York Art Society, North Yorkshire Art Society, Selby Art Group, Deepdale Art Group and Monk Fryston Art Group.
I have exhibited regularly at many of these plus Boston Spa Art & Craft Festival, and by invitation at RHS Harlow Carr Gardens, St Gemma's Art Show and solo at Rohan Designs, Harrogate.My favourite subjects are big bold flowers, animals and the wonderful Yorkshire countryside, all of which I mostly paint in watercolour but ring the changes with pastel, acrylic, gouache, brusho and oils when the mood takes me.
