Hugo worked as a graphic designer in London for twenty years before moving to Exeter to concentrate on painting.
He is interested in producing bodies of work in which the viewer has a progressively richer experience of the subject matter as they move from one image to the next. That experience may be the owing movement of a crowd, the solitariness of a room, or the dynamic play of light in a wooded landscape.
Landscapes and cityscapes are the core of his work. He enjoys drawing Animals.
