I am an artist living in the flat fenlands of Ely in Cambridgeshire. I am particularly drawn to moody skies over land and sea, painting from walks in the fen at Sutton Gault as well as visits to the East Anglian coastline. Each Spring I travel alone to Holy Island, Northumberland to sketch and paint.
I paint in oils on board using cardboard, rags, knives and brushes to achieve the surface texture which interests me. I like to sketch outside and then bring ideas back into the studio, making up little sketchbooks of ideas and surfaces which eventually translate into paintings.
I open my workspace as part of Cambridge Open Studios each year in July and am a member of Artscape, a small group of artists who regularly exhibit together. I also have paintings on display at the Serena Hall Gallery in Southwold.
