About : Liz Corley Art - Artist based in Carterton, Oxfordshire

Originally from London, I studied Graphic Design at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, gaining a Hons Degree in 1996 and worked as a Graphic Designer in industry. I then went on to complete a PGCE in 'Secondary School Art & Design Teaching' at Goldsmiths University in 2002 and have been working as an art teacher and Head of an Art Department for over 16 years, creating and selling my own work alongside teaching.

Having lived on the edge of the Cotswolds for over 12 years, I have been inspired by the beautiful landscape and nature that surrounds me. I love playing with colour and design, using acrylics and watercolour, but equally love the sharp precision of black and white pencil work. Birds and animals captivate me and I aim to capture a moment in time or an expression.

I also love being by the sea and will head to the coast as often as I can. The peace you get being by the water and watching light play off the waves set against a contrasting backdrop of rugged cliffs always inspires me be creative. I am interested in composition and will use depth and foreshortening in my seascapes to lead the eye around the piece.
