I am primarily a watercolour painter based in the North West of England. I have also been teaching for the last 5 years and visits art groups around the North West and occasionally further afield to deliver demonstrations and workshops in a loose, fluid style.
Although as a child I always had a pencil in my hand, it wasn't until much later having pursued careers in science, retail management and banking that I finally picked up a paint brush and fell in love with watercolour!! I retired early to devote more time to my art and have never regretted it for a millisecond!
I now also work in Brusho, a powder pigment which produces vibrant colourful work.
I don't paint realistically preferring to choose my own colours rather than painting directly what is in front of me. As a result I use references only as a clue. Sometimes I start with my subject other times with my background whatever takes my fancy at the time but my aim is only to give an impression of my subject which I hope you can enjoy in the cards I have here.
