Watercolour artist and photographer based in Birmingham, UK.
As an avid photographer for many years, I live to explore with my camera, looking for the things that others may overlook. I often prefer to work in black and white, finding beauty in the subtle tonal contrasts it reveals. However, when I paint, primarily from my own photographs, I love to use the clarity and transparency of watercolours to convey my feelings about the scene or subject. Whatever the medium, i adore the simple beauty of nature; birds, plants and the seaside are some of my favourite subjects.
For me, both painting and photography are opportunities for mindful meditation and I teach an annual workshop at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre in Birmingham where we explore mindful photography and yoga as a meditative practice.
My passion for rehoming ex-racing greyhounds has resuilted in a large collection of houndie photographs over the years and I have now created a range of watercolour cards featuring hounds. I will be donating a selection of these cards to rescue charities each year, to help them raise funds. The wording on the back of these cards reads "Helping hounds to find homes" and I hope that charities registered here will personalise them for their own organisation, and use them to raise funds as well.
