Barbara’s Collages were originally made to decorate old trays and boxes for presents, using discarded
magazines. During her time studying the BA and the MA, she began to understand how much more
important and instantly reactive her Collages have become.
In creating the Collages, there sometimes feels like a connection to the 3D work, but oftentimes they are a
reaction to the current environment and its available resources. So, there may or may not be a direct visual
connection to the 3D making, but uncertain whether that matters, she continues to use Collage as part of
the creative process. Some of her personal favourites have been made in to prints and greetings cards.
She is delighted to have recently won the chance to exhibit one of her Collages, Relaxing Chair, in the
Thelma Hulbert Gallery as part of the Evolver Prize 2019 Exhibition.
